London, UK, 13 September, 2024 – Sherbro Alliance Partners (SAP) and their globally renowned consultants, Foster +Partners, were honoured to host the Honourable Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, at their London offices. The purpose of the visit was to showcase early planning and visioning work on the Sherbro Island City Project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming Sherbro Island into a modern, sustainable, and inclusive urban metropolis.

Minister Bah met with SAP co-founder, Siaka Stevens, for a series of strategic discussions and a site visit to Foster +Partners. This offered a valuable opportunity to showcase the company’s innovative and sustainable design approach, which is at the heart of the Sherbro Island City Project.

During the meeting, the Honourable Minister was introduced to some initial planning and visioning work for the city, highlighting the first phase of revitalising Bonthe Town to be a strategic gateway into the rest of the Island. The presentation highlighted a systematic approach to the phased development of the project and the forward-thinking plans that aspire to boost economic growth while creating world-class infrastructure.

“The Sherbro Island City Project marks a turning point in Sierra Leone’s commitment to sustainable urban development,” said Siaka Stevens. “Bonthe Town, with its historical significance and potential for revitalisation, presents an ideal starting point. This project is for all Sierra Leoneans and it’s something we can be proud of and rally behind.”

Minister Chernor Bah voiced his strong support for the project, stating, “The Sherbro Project will not only improve the infrastructure of the region but will serve as a symbol of Sierra Leone’s future. It’s inspiring to witness the dedication and expertise being brought to this project by SAP’s international partners.”

This visit underscores the collaboration between SAP and the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) as they work towards realising the full potential of Sherbro Island and Sierra Leone. The partnership exemplifies President Bio’s commitment to forging global relationships that enhance the country’s development goals.
